I've been fighting for Poland man and boy and this Civil Partnership malarky is not just an excuse for a p!ss up. There are serious ramifications and focusing attention Elton John and David Furnish trivialises the debate. Should this be accepted? I persoanlly have no need whatsoever to make some public pronouncment or utter vows in order to validate my relationship, not after all these years and the idea of having a "Gay Wedding" would fill me with dred, I can't think of anything more painful. I do believe however that certain rights and obligations be extended to same sex couples and that these need be legally validated. When you've seen someone denied access to their dying partner becuase the law didn't recognise him as next of kin, even though they'd lived together 20 years, you'll appreciate that it's a bit more serious than a celebrity "wedding".
