Crank Yankers

Crank Yankers first appeared in 2002 and features real prank calls made by celebrity guests which are then re-enacted onscreen by puppets. The performers are given a basic outline of a scenario by writers and call the telephone numbers of selected targets. Performers improvise the majority of their lines, playing off of the responses of the respondants with the intention to keep them on the phone as long as possible. It is illegal to record any telephone call in the US without the consent of both parties, with the exception of State Navada. Don’t ask me why, so prank calls can be recorded without the consent of the prank victims. The calls are re-enacted by puppets based on the various targets voices, along with a series character voices. The show was cancelled by Comedy Central in 2006, but can currently be seen on MTV2. Cammie is a regular contributor.
